Human Factors Paper

‘Resilience in the blood transfusion process: Everyday and long-term adaptations to ‘normal’ work’

This is a paper which is to be published based on the early work done for the human factors questions in the vein to vein audit. It is probably the first major paper on human factors in transfusion, and has been authored by Alison Watt, the Human Factors expert on the SHOT Working Expert Group.

2018 Annual SHOT Report published!

The 2018 Annual SHOT Report was launched on 9th July 2019 at the SHOT Symposium, at the Rothamsted Centre for Research and Enterprise, Harpenden.

Invitation for expressions of interest to join the SHOT Working Expert Group (WEG)

The expert group has a vacancy in analysis of Anti-D Ig and invites suitable candidates to apply to join.

This is a voluntary role with no remuneration.

The activities and responsibilities of the WEG are described here. Applicants should state how they have expertise in this area, provide a CV to demonstrate that, and details of two referees. SHOT Symposium – Abstract Deadline EXTENDED!

Abstracts are invited for poster presentation at the Annual SHOT Symposium, Tuesday 9th July 2019 at Rothamsted Centre for Research and Enterprise, Harpenden, Herts, AL5 2JQ.

The 2 best abstracts will be given a 10-minute oral slot in the 2019 SHOT Symposium programme.

The 3 abstract topics this year are Transfusion Education, Audit, Quality Improvement Projects. Abstract guidance, submission forms and further information can be found at: https://www.shotuk.org/events-2/annual-shot-symposium/

The deadline for submissions is Friday 17th May 2019.
