HSJ Patient Safety Awards 2022

SHOT are delighted to have been shortlisted for the HSJ Patient Safety Awards 2022! Our work to improve patient safety *Improving transfusion safety by applying human factors principles in the UK* has been shortlisted in the ‘Harnessing a Human Factors Approach to Improve Patient Safety category’. The full list of finalists for the 2022 HSJ Patient Safety Awards can be found on https://awards.patientsafetycongress.co.uk/shortlist-2022. Winners will be selected ahead of the ceremony, which will take place as part of the Patient Safety Congress and Awards in Manchester in September 2022. The HSJ Patient Safety Awards help drive improvements in culture and quality across the NHS by celebrating the teams and the people putting safety first.

Prof Mark Bellamy, SHOT Steering Group Chair said ‘SHOT’s inclusion in the shortlist for the HSJ awards is hugely important. It recognises the haemovigilance community’s  successful “human factors“ approach to transfusion safety. More importantly, it creates an opportunity for us to further promote and develop this transformational approach to patient safety throughout clinical and laboratory practice.’

The SHOT team would like to extend their gratitude and appreciation for each member of our transfusion community especially all our reporters and SHOT Steering Group and Working Expert Group members and all our collaborators.
