SHOT Human Factors and Ergonomics (HFE) in Transfusion Virtual Courses

The SHOT team are excited to announce our interactive 'HFE in transfusion' educational courses, taking place on 12th and 19th November 2026.

Places are limited to 50 on a first come first served basis. Free for UK delegates, non refundable cost for international delegates £50

These virtual interactive courses will be held on MS Teams. They will consist of small group work where attendees are encouraged to actively participate in the discussions. Some pre-course reading material will be sent in advance of the course. 

The courses will cover the role of HFE in improving transfusion safety, application of HFE to incident investigation using the SHOT Human Factors Investigation Tool (HFIT), identification of contributory factors and effective corrective actions, human-centred design principles and safer systems of work.

The courses are an excellent opportunity for CPD through participation and reflective practice.

These courses are relevant to all health care professionals involved in transfusion – laboratory staff, clinicians, Transfusion Practitioners, haemovigilance specialists, quality assurance professionals and patient safety teams.

Please ensure that you have appropriate approval in place if attending during work time.
