About the workshops
These interactive, day-long, in-person workshops are being organised across the UK to provide an exciting programme covering vital haemovigilance and transfusion safety topics. They are distinct from the Annual SHOT Symposium and are designed to:
- Offer a unique opportunity to discuss key issues directly with SHOT and MHRA experts
- Share best practices and learn from transfusion incidents
- Provide updates on topical issues in haemovigilance
- Enable networking and peer-to-peer learning
The workshops will mainly be targeted at clinical and laboratory staff involved in blood transfusions but are open to any healthcare professional working within a SHOT/MHRA reporting organisation with an interest in transfusion and/or patient safety.
Workshop programme highlights
A wide range of haemovigilance topics will be covered, including (but not limited to):
- Haemovigilance reporting and participation benchmarking
- Learning from transfusion incidents
- Applying human factors and ergonomics principles in transfusion practice
- Lessons from the Infected Blood Inquiry
- Patient involvement including engaging and partnering with patients
Sessions will be delivered through interactive discussions and case-based or scenario-based learning to ensure maximum engagement.
