On behalf of everyone at SHOT, we would like to express our sincere appreciation for your participation and support in making this year’s event such a success, particularly as we celebrated the significant milestone of 30 years of SHOT.
It was a pleasure to bring together colleagues from across the transfusion community to share learning, discuss current challenges, and explore opportunities to further improve patient safety. We hope you found the programme informative, engaging, and inspiring. Highlights included the launch of the 2025 Annual SHOT Report and supporting resources, presentations of key findings and case studies, innovations in transfusion practice showcased by our abstract winners, and the opportunity to hear directly from our donor speaker. His personal story was a powerful reminder of the generosity that underpins blood donation and the profound difference that donors make to patients’ lives.
We were also delighted to celebrate other important milestones within the transfusion community: 30 years of microbiological surveillance, 20 years of the UK Transfusion Laboratory Collaborative (UKTLC), 25 years of National Comparative Audit of Blood Transfusion in the UK and 25 years of the National Blood Transfusion Committee (NBTC). These achievements reflect the longstanding commitment of the organisations to improving transfusion practice and patient safety across the UK.
The abstract presentations, poster sessions, and discussions throughout the day showcased the exceptional work being undertaken across the UK and provided valuable opportunities for shared learning, networking, and collaboration. We hope you enjoyed reconnecting with colleagues, making new connections, exchanging ideas, and contributing to conversations that will help drive safer transfusion practice in the years ahead.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to all our speakers, moderators, poster presenters, exhibitors, sponsors, and everyone who contributed behind the scenes to make the symposium possible. Most importantly, thank you to you, our delegates. Your attendance, engagement, questions, and willingness to share experiences are what make the symposium such a valuable and rewarding event each year. We are grateful to have such a committed and collaborative community working together to improve transfusion safety, and we look forward to welcoming you to future SHOT events.
With best wishes,
The SHOT Team
