SHOT Human Factors and Ergonomics (HFE) in Transfusion Virtual Courses – Serious Hazards of Transfusion

The SHOT team is pleased to announce the return of its interactive Human Factors and Ergonomics (HFE) in Transfusion 2026 virtual courses, taking place on 12 November 2026 and 19 November 2026 via Microsoft Teams.

These engaging sessions will explore the role of HFE in improving transfusion safety, including:

  • Application of HFE to incident investigations using the SHOT Human Factors Investigation Tool (HFIT)
  • Identification of contributory factors and effective corrective actions
  • Human-centred design principles
  • Development of safer systems of work
  • Opportunities for continuing professional development (CPD) through participation and reflective practice

The courses are suitable for all healthcare professionals involved in transfusion, including laboratory staff, clinicians, Transfusion Practitioners, haemovigilance specialists, quality assurance professionals, and patient safety teams.

Places are limited to 50 attendees per session and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. The courses are free for UK delegates.
