The SHOT Definitions are a guide to what events are reportable to SHOT. These are reviewed and updated on an annual basis, with new definitions published every January.
Please note: the SHOT Definitions, published in January 2025, were amended in March 2025 with an additional clarification regarding Handling and Storage errors where the administration of a blood component was faster or slower than prescribed, but where no harm was detected in the recipient.
